In words
Steal from the temple. Leave before it takes you.
Short
GREED is a short survivor-like. You run around a temple, your weapon fires on its own, and gold drops everywhere. The gold you carry isn't yours until you walk out with it. A run takes a few minutes.
Long
Every coin you pick up is at risk. Every coin you bank is safe. The more you carry, the angrier the temple gets.
Every 25 seconds the temple offers you cards called Deals: something good, with a price attached. A gold ring opens now and then. Stand in it until it fills to bank your pile. Die first and the pile is gone.
Between runs you walk around a thief's den, where your hoard grows with what you bank, and spend it at the Fence's Black Market on more Deals. The Crucible melts two Deals into an Alloy, a card that does something neither could alone. Six songs get more frantic the greedier you get.
The developer
GREED is made by Csaba, a small indie developer who loves games and always wanted to make one without a team.
The demo ends at $250,000 Net Worth, an hour or two of stealing. The full game comes later.
What players do in 10 seconds
- Move with WASD or the arrow keys. Aiming and shooting are automatic.
- Pick a card every 25 seconds: a good thing, and its cost.
- Stand in the gold ring to bank the pile. Or stay greedy.
